Remove thatch

The accumulation of a thatch layer (dead / decomposing plant material) which is too thick in turf can be detrimental as it forms a “barrier” resulting in a reduction in water filtration through the soil, which in turn can interfere with the effectiveness of pesticide and nutrient applications, resulting in a soft and uneven surface.  Roots can become susceptible to drought and the turf in general becomes susceptible to fungal disease e.g. Fusarium Patch.
